OG Kush × Chemdawg — the foundational gas-cohort cross.
OG Chem is the direct cross of OG Kush and Chemdawg — two of the most-influential strains in modern cannabis combined. Distinct from Chemdawg itself (Chemdawg is one of the parents OF OG Kush, so OG Chem loops back on the family tree); shelves carry it as its own labeled strain rather than under either parent's name. Heavy gas-and-fuel aroma, hybrid effect that runs slightly indica on most phenos. Both parents already corpus members.

Aromatic chemistry
No — they're closely related but distinct. Chemdawg is one of the original parents that produced OG Kush (per the most-cited OG Kush origin story). OG Chem is then the cross of OG Kush back to Chemdawg, which loops on the family tree but creates its own labeled cut. Different strain pages, related lineage.
Backcrossing (and near-backcrossing) is a breeder technique that stabilizes specific traits. By crossing OG Kush back into one of its own parents, breeders push the genetics toward the Chemdawg side more strongly than the original OG Kush phenotype expressed. The result is heavier on gas-fuel character than straight OG Kush.
Heavier on the fuel-diesel side. OG Kush has a piney-kush base with citrus brightness; OG Chem amplifies the diesel character (from the Chemdawg reinforcement) while keeping the OG pine. Closer to straight Chemdawg's nose than to OG Kush's nose.
Separate strain. Some growers casually use 'Chem' as shorthand for Chemdawg, but 'OG Chem' specifically refers to the OG Kush × Chemdawg cross. If a budtender says 'OG Chem,' they mean the cross — not the original Chemdawg.
